Senior Seminar Workshops

Staff from the Center for Life Calling & Leadership are frequently invited into upper-level courses, especialy senior seminars, to discuss various issues related to life calling, career development and the job search process. The Office of Career Development uses a strengths-based, God-focused approach to assist with the various the steps associated with these ventures.

Common workshop topics include:

Resume & Cover Letter Development  •  Interviewing Techniques & Strategies

Networking Protocol & Procedures  •  Applying & Marketing Your Unique Design

While you will certainly learn effective strategies and techniques, the premise behind these workshops is much more significant, and involves three primary goals.

  • Purpose and Meaning: The Center strives to show you that there is purpose for your life and that you have the ability to discover your purpose and pursue congruence between your purpose and your career goals through better awareness of yourself. Without such guidance, it is possible to graduate feeling a lack of purpose even though you may be perfectly equipped to carry out the duties of your selected career.

  • Confirmation of Direction: The Center wants to assist you in realizing the importance in talking about the meaning of life, exploring your strengths and engaging in community service as a way to facilitate the discovery of your life purpose. Without such knowledge, individuals may have increased difficulty discovering their Life Calling.

  • Resilience During Adversity: The Center also wishes to emphasize the value in identifying your Life Calling to better equip you with the staying power to endure adversity in your career and provide you with an anchor in the career-related decisions that you have made. Without such understanding, individuals are more likely to jump from job to job, and career to career after graduation.
